CASTING CONTINUES FOR THE NEW CANADIAN PRODUCTION OF SMASH HIT MUSICAL COMEDY & JULIET

OPEN CALL FOR DANCERS MONDAY DECEMBER 16, 2024

When: Monday, December 16, 2024 – Sign-up begins at 9AM and ends at 10AM. Auditions begin at approximately 9:30AM in groups until done 1PM.

Where: The Elgin Theatre, 158 Victoria Street, Toronto (Sign-in on the 4th floor). Closest subway stop is Queen Station.

Seeking: Ensemble Dancers: 20s, all ethnicities, all gender identities. Must be highly skilled hip-hop dancers (breakers, poppers, lockers, and others with unique, hip-hop based vocabularies) who are excellent physical storytellers. Prior experience with musical theatre or other long-running shows is helpful.

Seeking: Experienced Dance Captains/Swings: 20s – mid 30s, all ethnicities, all gender identities. Very experienced Dance Captains and Swings, hip-hop & contemporary experience, dancing/singing in long running shows. Will need to cover roles.

Prepare: Wear sneakers. Bring photo/snapshot and resume, stapled together and water. Bring a short pop or contemporary song you like to sing with sheet music. (Not all roles have to sing but must be willing to try).

CAEA members will be seen first at all open calls.

November 24 open call casting video

Actors and singers came out in droves to the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel on November 24 for the open casting call for & Juliet. The first arrived at 5:48 AM with a twinkle in their eye, and coffee in their stomach (presumably). Despite the early hour, auditioners were bright and cheerful, just happy to have their chance at taking the stage in a musical that quickly won the hearts of Canadians when it played here pre-Broadway in 2022. The all-new Canadian production will open in December of 2025.
