The 2026/27 MIRVISH SEASON is one of the biggest in the company’s history: 24 different shows on four different stages in downtown Toronto.
THE MAIN SUBSCRIPTION SEASON is made up of seven exciting productions, including four new musicals, two plays, and one docu-concert.
THE OFF-MIRVISH SUBSCRIPTION SEASON will have five shows that will be announced in March.
There will also be 12 NON-SUBSCRIPTION SHOWS, including brand-new productions and the return of audience favourites.
“Programming a theatre season is a complex process that begins many years in advance and continues right up until the season announcement,” said David Mirvish. “In many ways it’s like an intelligence mission, from research and reconnaissance, lots of top-secret meetings, deals and negotiations, and so on and so forth. If we were an intelligence agency, we’d likely name this mission Operation Mirvish.”
Hannah Mirvish explains further: “In honour of the hit musical Operation Mincemeat – a show that we’ve had our eyes on for many years now – it felt appropriate to theme our Main Subscription Season just that – the Operation Mirvish Season.
“Today we are thrilled to ‘declassify’ our Most Secret documents and reveal another tremendous season of world-class theatre, bringing together exciting new musicals and iconic storytelling all in one extraordinary subscription.”
First up are three Canadian premieres of exciting new musicals:
Direct from Broadway, the first show of the season is one with an Empire State of Mind. Hell’s Kitchen is the electrifying hit musical created by 17-time Grammy® Award winner Alicia Keys. Inspired by her life, the multi-award-winning Hell’s Kitchen features Alicia Keys’ greatest hits along with new songs written especially for the show.
The Karate Kid: The Musical is a thrilling and energetic new show based on the iconic 1980s film of the same name. It’s a heartfelt coming-of-age story that takes flight with sensational musical numbers and inventive choreography. This brand-new production will come to us directly from its UK premiere.
Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical is the uproarious Olivier and Tony® Award-winning musical sensation that’s taken London and Broadway by storm, blending sharp wit and intrigue with one of the most audacious true stories ever told. It’s the best-reviewed show in West End history, with an incredible 88 five-star reviews. It’s simply a must see.
Following along are two exciting North American premieres:
13 Going on 30: The Musical is the story of an awkward 13-year-old who wants to skip adolescence and go straight to adulthood. Based on the hit 2004 romantic comedy that starred Jennifer Garner, 13 Going on 30 had its world premiere at the Manchester Opera House in the Fall of 2025. Toronto will host the musical’s North American debut prior to opening in London’s West End. (Jennifer Garner is an executive producer of this new musical.)
Toronto will also host the North American premiere of the landmark London production of the longest-running play in theatre history. Agatha Christie’s classic murder mystery, The Mousetrap, opened in London’s West End in 1952 and has been running there ever since, now in its 75th year. This will be the very first time the legendary production will be seen on this side of the Atlantic.
The season closes with the Toronto premieres of two exciting Canadian shows that bring masterful storytelling to the stage performed by brilliant Canadian artists.
Last season we brought to Toronto Inside American Pie, a thrilling docu-concert from Harmony House, the esteemed music collective from Prince Edward Island. It was such a huge success that we are bringing another Harmony House hit to our stage. Inside the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald is a moving theatrical experience that uses the timeless songs of Gordon Lightfoot to tell the most haunting story in our maritime history.
Salesman in China, by Leanna Brodie and Jovanni Sy, is the fascinating cross-cultural exploration of a true event – playwright Arthur Miller’s 1983 visit to Beijing to direct a Chinese-language production of his seminal play, Death of a Salesman. The production was an acclaimed hit at the Stratford Festival, which commissioned the play and premiered it two seasons ago. It went on to a sellout run at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa and now makes its long-awaited Toronto debut.
The four Mirvish stages will also offer 12 productions not on subscription – but Mirvish Subscribers will have priority ticket access to all these extra shows:

Created by Mike Ross and Sarah Wilson
Music Direction and Arrangements by Mike Ross

Produced by Harmony House (Nicole Bellamy and Mike Ross)
“HARMONY HOUSE… ONE OF CANADIAN MUSIC’S BEST KEPT SECRETS!” -Toronto Star
It was 50 years ago this past November when the SS Edmund Fitzgerald, one of the largest lake freighters, sank beneath the icy waters of Lake Superior, taking all 29 crew members with her. This tragic shipwreck inspired Gordon Lightfoot to write a song that instantly became a #1 hit and immortalized the shipping trade on the Great Lakes.
In this Toronto premiere production from Harmony House, Mike Ross and a band of extraordinary island musicians and storytellers — Shane Pendergast, Brielle Ansems, Cameron MacDuffee, Alicia Toner and Greg Gale — bring the story of this ill-fated ship to life.
Through Lightfoot’s legendary music, INSIDE THE WRECK OF THE EDMUND FITZGERALD will take you on a journey from the ship’s maiden voyage to its final, fateful day.
Created by Mike Ross and Sarah Wilson, this intricate, fascinating and moving look at one of Canada’s best-known ballads explores the song while also paying homage to many other Gordon Lightfoot hits.
Songs featured include: Oh, So Sweet, Carefree Highway, For Lovin’ Me, Summer Side of Life, Oh, Linda, The Auctioneer, Song For a Winter’s Night, Black Day in July, Early Morning Rain, Don’t Beat Me Down, Sundown, If You Could Read My Mind, and, of course, The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

Chinese Translations by Fang Zhang
Directed by Jovanni Sy
Produced by the Stratford Festival
*CRITIC’S PICK*
“A BRILLIANT NEW PLAY, FULLY READY TO TAKE THE WORLD’S STAGES BY STORM” -The Globe and Mail
“A PRODUCTION THAT DEMONSTRATES THE CAPACITY FOR ART TO UNITE, CHALLENGE AND, ULTIMATELY, HEAL US” -Toronto Star
In the main rehearsal room of the Beijing People’s Art Theatre in 1983, the actors have just completed their first read-through of a Chinese translation of Arthur Miller’s Great American Drama, Death of a Salesman. Legendary actor Ying Ruocheng, who plays Willy Loman in the production, thanks the company before introducing the guest of honour, Arthur Miller, who has just arrived in China, with his wife Inge Morath, to direct the play. The eyes of the world are fixed on the production, which signals a thawing in the two nations’ icy relations.
Ying quickly discovers that there are more cultural bridges than just the language barrier to cross. Long shut off from the West, the Chinese public is oblivious to the cultural touchstones in Miller’s work. China is a land without travelling salesmen or insurance policies or personal automobiles—how will the collaborators illuminate the play’s thematic depths for an audience as culturally distinct and idiosyncratic as their American counterparts? Ying’s position also forces him to appease the egos and ambitions of various government officials and attachés, as well as the mercurial Cao Yu, the celebrated playwright and artistic director of the People’s Art Theatre.
Commissioned by the Stratford Festival, where it premiered in 2024, Leanna Brodie and Jovanni Sy’s SALESMAN IN CHINA brings that daring act of cultural cross-pollination to life. Shifting seamlessly between Mandarin and English, the play becomes an act of translation, inviting the audience to imagine bold new interpretations of Miller’s iconic tragedy and all works of art.
This play is presented in English and Mandarin with surtitles.
Developed with support from the National Arts Centre’s National Creation Fund.
