The Corn is Green

Emlyn Williams’ The Corn Is Green was a massive London hit in 1938. It did not make its debut on Broadway until 1940, when the legendary Ethel Barrymore (the New York theatre named after her is still in use) starred in it and proved so successful that Ms. Barrymore toured it across North America for a few years. It played the Royal Alex in 1942. Mr. Barrymore played the Riyal Alex five times.
