WHAT IS SUBSCRIPTION? (AND WHY SHOULD I SUBSCRIBE?)
Every February, for the past 40-odd years, the Mirvish theatres have put together a "season" of shows that are offered as a package available for purchase, in advance, at substantially lower prices than one would pay if purchasing tickets to each production individually.
A season subscription not only saves money – this year savings of as much as 50% – but offers many other perqs as well, including first choice of seats for every show; free, easy, flexible ticket exchange; an easy payment plan; parking and dining discounts; a free subscribers’ newsletter; free show reminders; an Honest Ed's Gift Card; invitations to special events; and both discounts and priority tickets to non-subscription shows.
The present subscription season of 2009/2010 is now heading toward its close, with Legally Blonde (July 7 to August 8), as the final productions of the package, but David Mirvish has now announced that he will present six new productions in the 2010/2011 subscription season, with six additional shows offered as bonus shows, available at discount, to subscribers.
“As in every year,” David explains, “we look to bring the best shows from London, New York and elsewhere to Toronto. For the coming year, our season package includes, in order: PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT THE MUSICAL, A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM, BILLY ELLIOT THE MUSICAL, THE SECRET GARDEN, SWEET CHARITY and CALENDAR GIRLS."
