NYC’s must-sea musical comedy is set to slay Canada, the mother country of the O.G. Québecois international sensation, Céline Dion.

Titanique will make its Canadian premiere in Céline’s hometown of Montreal (or 24 km from her hometown of Charlemagne) at the Segal Centre for Performing Arts (October 27 to November 24, 2024), followed by an engagement at Toronto’s CAA Theatre (December 5, 2024 to January 12, 2025). This all-Canadian production of the off-Broadway hit of titanic proportions will star an authentique real-life Québec star – Véronique Claveau – as Céline Dion. The remainder of the 13-member cast will be announced soon.

"I've often had the chance to play Céline Dion in various sketch projects. But to have the chance to play the Quebec icon in a full musical is truly an honour, especially in a show as hilarious as this one!” said star Véronique Claveau.

"It is such a thrill to be sailing Titanique into Céline’s home and of Quebec, bolstered by the enthusiasm and expertise of my partners at The Segal Centre and Mirvish Productions," said director Tye Blue. "Obviously the entire world worships Céline, but I know how much more she means to the Canadian people. She belongs to you in a very special way, and I aim to deliver that personal connection in a very tangible, meaningful way onstage.  It will be one of the great honours of my career to be entrusted with such an endeavour.

"This spring, I spent several days in Montreal and Toronto auditioning talent from all over Canada, and I must admit I was completely blown away. We are now in the process of assembling a fully Canadian company — which we will announce soon — of truly astounding megawatt performers who are going to lift Céline’s song catalogue into the stratosphere.  I. Cannot. Wait. Shall we go for it?!"

The Canadian production will be co-produced by the Segal Centre for Performing Arts in Montreal and Mirvish Productions in Toronto. Titanique was originally produced Off-Broadway by Eva Price.

Titanique will be part of the Segal Centre's 2024/25 subscription season and part of the Off-Mirvish 2024/25 subscription season. Performance schedules and tiquet details will be announced at a later date.

ABOUT THE SHOW

Written by Marla Mindelle, Constantine Rousouli and Tye Blue, directed by Tye Blue, with music arrangements and orchestrations by Nicholas James Connell, Titanique had its world premiere Off-Broadway at NYC’s Asylum Theatre in June 2022, produced by Eva Price. The show won critical raves and becoming an instant audience hit – which necessitated a transfer to the Daryl Roth Theatre in November 2022, where its run continues to sell out. The production won three Lucille Lortel Awards, including Outstanding Musical, the Off-Broadway Alliance Best Musical Award, the Dorian Award for Outstanding Off-Broadway Production, and a Las Culturistas Culture Award.

ABOUT VÉRONIQUE CLAVEAU

An actor, singer and dancer, Véronique Claveau has been hailed as “a true queen of musical theatre" by Radio-Canada. Her breakthrough came in 2004 as a finalist on the reality TV talent show Star Académie. From there she quickly became a popular singer and actor in Québec. She was cast in several TV shows and became a regular in the end-of-year satirical stage revue, Revue et Corrigée, which showcased her excellent comedic skills and superb singing. It was here she first won acclaim for her brilliant imitation of national icon Céline Dion. This led to her starring in the television equivalent of the year-end revue, Bye Bye, which made her a star across French-Canada. She has starred in French translations of Broadway musicals, notably Hairspray and recently in Annie at the Théâtre Saint-Denis.   For more information: segalcentre.org and mirvish.com
