Mirvish MARCH BREAK Program 2020

The Mirvish MARCH BREAK 2020 Musical Theatre Student Program is now SOLD OUT!

This March, students are invited to experience not one but two of the hottest musicals in the world today – HAMILTON and COME FROM AWAY - along with the chance to engage with premier guest artists and industry professionals in an exciting and immersive 3-day program.
 
 Who can apply?  Youth ages 13 to 17 by program start date.  Space is limited to 35 participants. Performance experience is not required, just a serious interest in and passion for theatre, and a willingness to participate fully.
 
Cost: $450 (including HST)  
 
Dates: March 17 – 19, 2020
 
Time:  9 AM to 5 PM
 
Location:  The program will move to a different Mirvish venue each day.
 
Day One (Tue March 17):  Princess of Wales Theatre (300 King St West)
 
Special guest artist Dayna Tekatch (Resident Director, COME FROM AWAY) will lead participants in a full-day workshop that explores the Musical Theatre genre and the creative process of telling a story through movement and song. Using HAMILTON and COME FROM AWAY as examples, participants will be challenged to work together to create their own ‘based on a true story’ musical-theatre content.
 
Day Two (Wed March 18): Ed Mirvish Theatre (244 Victoria St)
 
Our focus on Day Two will be HAMILTON. Participants will learn about the production, and explore one of its key creative elements in a Rap & Spoken Word workshop, led by special guest artist Paul Ohonsi (VIBE Arts). The day will also include a guided historic front-of-house tour, followed by the 1:30 pm matinee performance of HAMILTON and post show Q&A with members of the cast. Rear Mezzanine seating. Stair access only.
 
Day Three (Thu March 19): Royal Alexandra Theatre (260 King St W)
 
Our focus on Day Three will be COME FROM AWAY. Participants will learn about the history and development of the show, and explore key creative elements in a workshop led by special guest artist and cast member Lisa Horner (Beulah & Others, COME FROM AWAY). The day will also include a guided historic front-of-house tour, followed by the 1:30 pm matinee performance of COME FROM AWAY and post show Q&A with members of the cast. Dress Circle seating. Stair access only.

What about Lunch?
Participants are responsible for their own food/snacks. We will provide a space to gather for lunch each day, or participants may leave if guardian permission is provided in advance.

PAYMENT / CANCELLATION POLICY
Registration fee is due in full at time of booking. 

If you need to cancel, please email education@mirvish.com right away. Registration that is cancelled up to 3 weeks prior will be refunded to the original method of payment minus a $75 administration fee. Please note absolutely no refunds will be issued less than 3 weeks prior to the program start date, including on or after the start of the program.

No refunds or compensation will be issued if a participant is asked to leave due to disruptive behaviour.

Programs may be cancelled at the discretion of Mirvish Productions due to lack of enrollment or unforeseen circumstances. Due to the nature of live theatre, all programs, artists or program portions are subject to change.

Please note that Mirvish Productions may be filming and taking photographs and/or video recordings for promotional purposes during the program.
