HONEST ED MIRVISH A PUBLIC CELEBRATION OF HIS LIFE
Sunday August 12, 2007 | ||||
| David Mirvish wishes to announce that plans are under way for a public celebration of the life of his father, Honest Ed Mirvish, who passed away on July 11, 2007. The public is invited to a free eight-hour-long celebration that will take place outside Honest Ed’s Retail Emporium at 581 Bloor Street West. The City of Toronto has been generous enough to grant a closure of Bloor Street between Bathurst and Markham Streets to accommodate the large turnout that is anticipated.
Ceremonies will begin at 11:30 am in the presence of Mayor David Miller, who will proclaim August 12, 2007 “Ed Mirvish Day” in the City of Toronto. Following the ceremonies, there will be SEVEN HOURS OF LIVE ENTERTAINMENT AND SURPRISES. Refreshments will be served. The WWRY cast will perform as part of this public celebration on Sunday August 12, 2007 at 6:00 pm. It will be a celebration that Ed Mirvish would have loved. When beloved legendary retail and show business entrepreneur Ed Mirvish passed away just before his 93rd birthday, not only was his passing felt here in Toronto and across Canada, but also condolences and tributes were received from across the continent. He is the only Canadian in history for whom the theatres on Broadway in New York City dimmed their lights on the day of his funeral. | ||||
